The word magic derives from the Greek word magos. But it may be traced as far back as Old Persia and the Chaldean term of maghdim, which meant ‘sacred philosophy’ or ‘supreme wisdom.’ Maghdim derived from magh, which signified ‘priest’ and ‘wise.’ Today, we refer to these ‘wise ones’ as Magi.
